How to get to BtB at Regents College

Most transatlantic flights come into either Heathrow or Gatwick Airports.  Here you can see the where Heathrow and Gatwick airports are in relation to Regents Park (where Between the Bays is being hosted by Regents College).

(Continental flights also come in to Luton, Stansted and City airports.  If you need help with getting to Regents Park from these airports, please ask us.)

N.B. A car is not a good option for getting to Regents College.  There is virtually no parking at the college and all street parking in Central London is metered and EXPENSIVE.  There are parking garages but these are few and far between and also very expensive.  The good news is that public transport is excellent and avoids having to dice with the nightmare traffic conditions.

I am tentatively planning to organize "shuttle" runs from both Heathrow & Gatwick to Regent's College on Saturday, August 6th, and from Regents College to both airports on Sunday, August 14.

These "shuttles" are private cabs for four or more people & the cost is roughly 10 GBP for one leg of the trip.  This is much cheaper than public transportation (except the Tube from Heathrow which is 3.85 GBP), but this depends on four or more sharing - and I will need to hear from you to set up possible times &  places of pickup.

This may not materialize, so we are supplying you with all details to make your journey to & from the airports on your own.

From Heathrow Airport:

For travel into London from Heathrow: http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow.htm.

There are two main rail links into London: the Heathrow Express and the London Underground (the Tube - click for a map of the London Underground).

The Heathrow Express runs every 15mins, takes 15mins, costs 26 GBP (roundtrip) and takes you to Paddington where you can take the tube (the London Underground) 2 or 3 stops to Baker St. Station (~2 GBP).  Or, of course, you can take a taxi direct from Paddington to Regents College (probably 10 - 20 GBP).
(A Special offer -- four for the price of two -- on http://www.gatwickexpress.co.uk)

Or you can take the Tube directly into London.  It takes longer (45 - 60mins) but it's much less expensive - 3.80 GBP each way. You take the Picadilly line to Green Park Station then change to the Jubilee Line for Baker Street.  Trains run every few minutes.

Regents College is a scant 10min walk from Baker St Station.   See the detailed map of the area.

From Gatwick Airport:

Gatwick to London by train: http://www.southernrailway.com/route_info/maps/gatwick.shtml

Gatwick to London & train: http://www.gatwick-airport-guide.co.uk/transport.html

The British Rail mainline station is immediately underneath Gatwick's South Terminal - where most of you will come in.  Unfortunately there are no elevators down, you do have to negotiate one flight of stairs.  The train takes you to Victoria Station where you can transfer to the tube (the London Underground) to get to Baker St.  This costs 23.50 GBP roundtrip plus another 2 GBP each way for the tube.  Or you can, of course, take a taxi (15 - 25 GBP?).

Regents College is a scant 10min walk from Baker St.  See the detailed map of the area.
