To Campers,  Between the Bays 2002

The Dance Week begins with the 8 p.m. Saturday night dance August 10th and ends after breakfast Saturday morning August 17th.

You can check into the dormitories in East Hall* after 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon August 10th.  You must be out of the dormitories by 11 a.m. Saturday morning August 17th.

A  few rooms will be available in the dorms both before & after the week of the dance camp.  The cost of the room is $30(single) $42 (double) per night, but please contact me & pay me to get this “preferential” rate.

Friday night August 9th, two streets of downtown Traverse City are blocked off to traffic and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. there is a street fair: music, dancing, food, entertainment of all kinds.  The day the dance week ends, Saturday August 17th, there is an art fair, all day, in downtown Traverse City.

Let me remind you, once again, that information about Traverse City events can be obtained on the web at http://www.mytraversecity.com and at http://www.traversemagazine.com.  You can also call 1-800-TRAVERS to receive a free issue of a magazine about Traverse City.

Many weeks after I set the price for my dance week the dormitory supervisor let me know that, because the dorm rooms were being totally renovated (they look terrific!), the price of dorm rooms was going up by 40% and linens would not be included in the price.  Some of you will choose to bring your own linens, but for $8.00 for the whole week, you can rent a full set of linens: 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 washcloths, pillow, bottom sheet, top sheet, bedspread, pillow case (blanket provided upon request).

Washing machines & dryers are available -- for free -- in the dormitory.

The dorm rooms are not air conditioned but evenings tend to be cool in Traverse city.  I suggest you bring along a sweater for evening wear.

There are telephones in all the rooms.  If someone needs to contact you, the telephone number of the front desk in East Hall is 231-995-1402.

After my first dance camp campers “complained” about the lack of time to tour this lovely resort area.  Wednesday workshops were empty and I was told half my campers were at the Sleeping Bear Dunes and the other half were on a sailing ship.  So I’ve made Wednesday an “off schedule” day.  The week long workshops are suspended and that day you can do a “one-day” workshop in Irish sets, Swing, Waltz -- or you can attend a couple of Contra workshops -- or you can go touring. . . .

I look forward to seeing you soon!!

Henry
